REV. C. F. MCDOWELL, III

Rev. C. F. McDowell, III began serving as the Stated Supply Pastor for Chadbourn Presbyterian Church on November 3, 2013.  He is a native of Greensboro, North Carolina and the father of three sons, Ches (wife Elise), an attorney and the Government Relations Advisor for Kilpatrick, Townsend and Stockton Law Firm Winston-Salem, North Carolina; Addison, a junior at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and Luke, a second year student at Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, North Carolina.  Rev. McDowell holds the Bachelor of Science degree from Wingate University (1985) in Wingate, North Carolina and the Master of Divinity degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (1989) in Wake Forest, North Carolina.  He has done post-graduate work at the M. Christopher White School of Divinity at Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, North Carolina and is a graduate of The Young Leaders Program (1996) of the Center for Congregational Health at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.  His previous pastorates include Wise Baptist Church in Wise, North Carolina (1987-1990), Chadbourn Baptist Church in Chadbourn, North Carolina (1990-1997) and First Baptist Church in Laurinburg, North Carolina (2008-2013).  He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Scotland Family Counseling Center in Laurinburg, North Carolina and The North Carolina Child Care Commission for the State of North Carolina.

Dr. Eugenia Quinn Blake, known by all as “Genie,” has been an organist for Chadbourn Presbyterian Church for almost 50 years and plays on the second and fourth Sunday of each month.  She joined this church in 1951 when she married John Milton Mills Blake, Sr.  They have two sons, John, Jr. (Kathy) and Frank (Cathy), four grandchildren and two great-grandsons.  Her son, John and his wife, Kathy are active members of Chadbourn Presbyterian Church, and Kathy serves as an Elder.   Genie is a native of Chinquapin, North Carolina where she was raised in the Chinquapin Presbyterian Church where she began singing in the choir and playing the piano when needed at age 12.  After high school she majored in music at Flora MacDonald College (now St. Andrews University) for two years and transferred to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she continued her study of piano and organ.  She holds the following three degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill:  B. A. in Art and Music, M. Ed. with a minor in Musicology and History and the Ph. D. in Higher Education.  During her career she has served as a public school teacher for the Duplin and Columbus County Schools and the Supervisor of High Schools/Director of Secondary Education for the Columbus County Schools, Assistant Principal for Edgewood Elementary and Whiteville Primary Schools and Principal for Edgewood Elementary School.  She concluded her service in the field of education by serving for 10 years as a faculty member in the Department of Education at Campbell University in Buies Creek, North Carolina.  She has served on the Board of Wilmington Presbytery, the Board of Trustees of Davidson College in Davidson, North Carolina and the Committee for Christian  Education for the Presbytery of Coastal Carolina.  For Chadbourn Presbyterian Church she previously served as a Junior High Sunday School teacher, Youth Choir Director and as an Elder.  In addition to serving as an organist, she is currently serving on three committees, as a member of the Adult Choir, as Moderator for the Women’s Circle and as a teacher for the Adult Sunday School Class.  


Blanche Selden Bullock has been an organist for Chadbourn Presbyterian Church for almost 50 years and plays on the first Sunday of the month.  She married the late Dr. Thurman Bullock in 1955, and they moved to Chadbourn from Lafayette, Louisiana in 1963.  They have four children, Stan (Paula), Bill (Beth), Bob (Leslie) and Susan Sasser (Trey), and eight grandchildren.  Two of her grandchildren, Peyton and Brock Sasser, are active in Chadbourn Presbyterian Church, and her daughter, Susan is an Elder.  Blanche is a native of Tarboro, North Carolina and grew up in Weldon, North Carolina where she was a part of the Weldon Methodist and Episcopal churches.  After graduating from Weldon High School, she attended Greensboro College in Greensboro, North Carolina and graduated in 1954 with the B.M. in Music Education.  During her career she taught in the public schools of Winston-Salem and King, North Carolina and at the Waccamaw Academy in Whiteville, North Carolina.  She is a former member of Presbyterian churches in Greensboro and Winston-Salem, North Carolina and Lafayette, Louisiana.  For Chadbourn Presbyterian Church, she previously served as Director of the Children and Adult choirs, the Bell Choir and as an Elder.   In addition to serving as an organist, she is currently a member of the Adult Choir.

Thomas Richard Rabon has been an organist for Chadbourn Presbyterian Church for 10 years and plays on the third Sunday of the month.  He is a native of Chadbourn and a lifelong member of the church.  His late parents, Emory and Evelyn Rabon, were members of the church, and his brother, Mark, a resident of Wilson, is still a member of the church.  After graduating from Waccamaw Academy in Whiteville, North Carolina, he earned the B.A. degree with a double major in Psychology/Science in 1981 and the M.A. degree (Psychology-Physiological and Industrial/Organizational Concentrations) in 1991, both from East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina.  He is currently working on the Ph.D degree in Health Psychology at Walden University in Minneapolis, Minnesota.  Since 1993 he has been an Adjunct Instructor of Psychology for Campbell University at its Fort Bragg and Pope Air Force Base campus in Fayetteville, North Carolina, and since 1999 he has been an Instructor of Psychology for the Southeastern Community College in Whiteville, North Carolina.  After studying piano, guitar and saxophone for many years, he studied organ at East Carolina University (1990-1991), Campbell University (1997-2004) and Southeastern Community College (2005-2007).   For Chadbourn Presbyterian Church he previously served as a Young Adult Sunday School teacher and Bell Choir Director.  In addition to serving as an organist, he currently serves as an Elder, Clerk of Session, Assistant Treasurer, a member of the Adult Choir and chairs the Grievance and Strengthening the Church Committees.
